UKAA Webinar: Renting in the UK: The Impact of COVID-19 on Renters’ Experience & Decision Making

Wednesday 23rd June 2021

On June 23, Grace Hill and the UK Apartment Association hosted an informational webinar to share the results of our collaborative Resident Sentiment Survey, which measured and assessed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on renters’ experience and future decision-making regarding renting in the UK.

The webinar was facilitated by David Butler, CEO of UKAA and the presenters spanned key members from Grace Hill including John Falco, Executive Vice President and Katie Jeffirs, Senior Project Manager, as well as Kevin Watson, Operations & Commercial Director at Platform, and Stephanie Smith, Director of Residential Operations – UK, Europe and Nordics at Invesco. This well-rounded panel of industry experts took a deep dive into the Resident Sentiment Survey results, which comprised over 1,000 residents, living primarily in Greater London, and walked the webinar attendees through the key findings and insights of the survey which highlighted:

  • How the pandemic impacted renters financially
  • The satisfaction level of residents at Build-to-Rent (BTR) communities versus those renting from a private landlord with professional management
  • The percentage of renters who plan to move within the next six months
  • Perceptions of property manager performance during the pandemic
  • How management firms should continue to adapt

The comprehensive survey results and insights were also formally published into the UKAA and Grace Hill KingsleySurveys Resident Sentiment Survey Report.
