FirstPort awarded leading global health and safety management award

FirstPort Property Services Ltd has won the prestigious Sword of Honour from the British Safety Council for 2019.

The residential property management company was one of only 84 organisations worldwide to achieve a Sword of Honour, which is awarded to organisations which have demonstrated excellence in the management of health and safety risks at work.

In order to compete for the Sword of Honour an organisation first had to achieve the maximum five stars in the British Safety Council’s health and safety management audit scheme in the period August 2018 – July 2019. It has also demonstrated to an independent panel of experts that it has achieved excellence in their health and safety management throughout the business – from their developments to head office.

Nigel Howell, Chief Executive of FirstPort said: “We’re most honoured to have earned the Sword of Honour. I would like to congratulate all my colleagues for working so hard to deliver high health and safety standards at our workplaces and the residential developments that we manage. We have an outstanding Health and Safety team who maintain the highest standards across our industry which has been recognised by this award.”

Lawrence Waterman, Chairman of the British Safety Council, said: “On behalf of the board of trustees and staff of the British Safety Council I would like to congratulate FirstPort on achieving the very highest standards of health and safety management. Excellence at this level is very hard won. We are proud to have supported you in your achievements, and I am delighted that you have chosen to celebrate it with us today.”
