News Buzz 04/05/21 – Planning for painless parcel handling

May 4th 2021

YOUR BTR NEWS BUZZ

EDITORS NOTE

Welcome to this edition of the UKAA News Buzz, sponsored by Quadient and guest-edited by Jon Hammond.

Over the past year, consumers have turned to online shopping in their droves, sparking a spike in the volume of parcels delivered. The popularity of online is unlikely to fade, and that creates a challenge for BTR properties striving to ensure seamless parcel deliveries for residents.

Incoming parcels are likely to remain a significant part of residential life and therefore an important part of plans for new developments. Early parcel management planning ensures adequate space is allocated for parcels, avoiding costly workarounds later on thus helping to future-proof properties for parcel deliveries. The aim is to maximise convenience for residents and minimise the impact on staff. Post pandemic it is still likely we will need to limit contact during deliveries for residents, carriers and staff.

Next week, on 11th May, Quadient is sponsoring the UKAA Virtual Reverse Trade Show. We’re looking forward to meeting with some of you then and discussing these, and other, parcel management challenges in BTR. In the meantime, enjoy this latest edition of the News Buzz.

Regards,
Jon Hammond, Head of Real Estate Parcel Locker Solution Sales, Quadient.

Residents want simple, convenient access to their delivered parcels. Building managers want to avoid parcels piling up in reception and storage areas. Quadient’s intelligent parcel lockers meet both needs, providing secure, self-serve parcel storage so that residents can collect their items when it suits them with reduced contact.

Discussing parcel management at the BTR planning stage avoids later problems. Finding space for parcels once plans are finalised is hard but if storage isn’t suitable, parcels can be trip, obstruction and fire hazards. Changing plans mid-development adds cost. Factoring in a scalable parcel locker system helps future-proof developments.
