BPG Guide Call for Contributions
We’re pleased to have launched last week our call for content for the creation of a UKAA Best Practice Guide for Build to Rent (BTR). Between now and our conference in November 2021, we are working with member contributors, editors, designers and experts to harness and express the practical knowledge of delivery of BTR schemes. The Guide will be delivered online, with interactive content covering topics from design and funding through to development, construction, mobilisation and operation.
We believe that the industry requires help to address issues that operators and suppliers face in common, removing barriers to unlocking the potential of the sector. Read what our President Lesley Roberts has to say about the importance of industry collaboration in Estates Gazette:

Last Call: Building Safety Alliance – Call for Volunteers to develop Building Safety Manager Specification
The UKAA has joined an independent industry-led not-for-profit organisation, the Building Safety Alliance which will implement the certification of people wanting to deliver the new role of building safety manager (BSM) and an accompanying publicly available register. The Building Safety Bill launched on the 5 July 2021 confirms the new statutory role of BSM.

As part of its membership, the UKAA will be contributing expertise to the development of a specification for the standard to which BSMs will be held. The reason for the parallel development of the standard and the legislation is that the Government and industry want BSMs to be certified and available by the time the legislation is applied and enforced.

We are asking for volunteers among the membership to help with representation and on the group that will deliver the specification. If you would be interested, we ask that you get in touch for an informal discussion. Candidates should have strong domain knowledge of the technical aspects of building safety, with experience of participation in the development of a publicly available specification desirable.

More information on the Building Safety Alliance can be found here:
