HomeViews have launched their 2020 National Build to Rent Report based on the insights and ratings of over 5,000 tenants in the UK, of which 1,500 live within Build to Rent developments. This is a more detailed analysis building on their Headline Summary presented last Autumn.

“For Build To Rent to be successful, we must all be focused on meeting the needs and aspirations of our customers and stakeholders. HomeViews are playing a key role in helping the sector to achieve this focus in a rigorous and transparent manner. This report is vital reading for everyone – whether they and their schemes are mentioned or not” David Butler, CEO of the UKAA.

This report from HomeViews Insights compares the BTR and Build to Sell (BTS) tenant experiences, as well as providing previously unpublished reviews and digest which give answers to the key question: how are BTR operators delivering the best living experience for residents?

The report found that tenants rated the BTR experience higher than BTS in every category – Overall, Facilities, Design, Location, Value and Building Management. This report provides independent evidence for operators and investors that consumers value the benefits of the BTR investment and management proposition.

In October 2019 HomeViews presented their headline summary report at the UKAA Annual Conference as well as announcing and awarding the top rated BTR developments from across the UK. The Trilogy in Manchester owned by the Moorfield Group and managed by Allsop Letting and Management topped the list of the highest rated BTR development in the UK.

The 2020 National Build to Rent Report analyses reviews from 538 developments of which 84 are BTR. These represent 37% of the completed BTR developments in the UK. This 64 page report looks further into the data behind the headlines and explores and addresses some of the key themes and questions the industry are looking to answer.

Covered within the report:

Facilities

The most highly rated developments by Facilities Score and those facilities that residents value the most.

Design

Comparing BTR, PRS and Office to Resi developments by resident ratings. What are the most loved design features and those that tenants want to change?

Community

What role are BTR operators offering in building a community and how important is this to residents? How does this differ to the typical tenant experience?

Location

How does location influence experience? Which are the top-rated locations by BTR tenants in the UK? Does proximity to transport matter?

Value

Comparing the average rent and Star Ratings to the resident perception of Value. Who are the Star Players?

HomeViews is the review site for residential developments that invites residents of new build developments to write a review of and rate their building.
