Feedback from Greystar’s 2020 US Design Survey, shone a light on how property companies could optimise their operations with design that meets post-pandemic requirements. With many residents working from home, the expectation and requirements of a rental apartment in terms of both design and service have evolved. Residents require high speed wifi and well-equipped communal areas suitable for home working. Services such as on-site post management, package lockers, maintenance & repairs and isolation support are highly valued as is, of course, plenty of outdoor space.
A highlight has been placed on the requirement for experienced operational platforms that drive value. At Greystar, we provide a Gold Standard across all resident touchpoints,  ensuring communities are managed effectively and in a way that allows our customers to thrive. Who lives in build to rent versions 2 and 3
We’re partnering with BPF, Dataloft and London First to deliver the next versions of ‘Who Lives in Build to Rent’, following the successful publication of our first version earlier this year. A draft proposal and data form for these next versions has been circulated to Build to Rent members for a commitment to participate, as well as any feedback on the proposed datasets and method of data collection. DMR Research Reminder
With James Pargeter (Global Apartment Advisors) and Chris Wheaton (Quod), we are undertaking a survey of UKAA and BPF members with occupied BTR communities under management, to gather information on the nature of affordable housing that has been an obligation of their planning consents to-date. Through this we hope to further understanding of the range of members’ experiences across different local planning authorities and to define best practice.

Ministers Bow to UKAA Supported Campaign
We supported a BPF- led campaign to exclude BTR from the forthcoming Developer Tax. We are pleased to say that ministers have listened and have agreed to the request.


BPG Guide Call for Contributions
Less than a month to go in our crowdfunding campaign for the BPG! We’re closing in our our funding target after a successful call sprint on Friday, but every little helps to make this project all it can be.
