UKAA Expo to focus industry attention on the future of Build to Rent

  • UKAA Expo will take place on 28th April 2022
  • 600+ professionals will come together to shape the future of Build to Rent
  • Whole of life costing and ESG revealed as dual underpinning themes

The UK Apartment Association – UKAA – has announced that its Build to Rent Expo 2022 will take place on Thursday 28th April at London’s Business Design Centre. A key date in the Build to Rent (BTR) calendar, the expo is a chance for professionals to come together to network, share information, learn and collaborate for the betterment of the UK BTR sector. Almost 600 delegates have registered to attend and exhibitor slots have already sold out for the UK’s largest ever trade show dedicated to Build to Rent.

The free-to-attend event will be underpinned by two central themes this year: whole of life costing and ESG. Both areas of work are hugely relevant to the BTR industry, while the event will also see the launch of The UKAA Best Practice Guide.

We are delighted to be welcoming delegates to the UKAA Build to Rent Expo once more this year. We have a packed agenda that will provide attendees with the chance to be part of shaping the future of Build to Rent at what is a very exciting time for the sector. We’ll be examining key trends that will impact the industry over the coming months and years, as well as knowledge sharing with leading figures in the sector.

Dave Butler, CEO, UKAA

The huge networking opportunity will see delegates connect with dozens of exhibitors as part of the event. The stands will provide the chance to learn about the latest and best BTR suppliers and products in the sector. There will also be a ‘Reverse Trade Show’ (open to exhibitors only), where exhibitors can meet with major purchasers/operators on a one-to-one basis, using a ‘speed dating’ style of meeting format.

The Expo’s three parallel stages will host presentations, breakout sessions, workshops and silent theatre talks throughout the day.

The UKAA room will host the launch of the UKAA Best Practice Guide as well as sessions with Cortland Consult on balancing Capex, Opex and Lifecycle, Trusted Stays on the Corporate Lets market plus Commscope and Quintain on their technology collaboration at Wembley Park.

The Focal Point, hosted by UKAA strategic marketing partner, Focus XP  will host sessions honing in on the customer experience, with Focus XP sharing data and insights on tailoring accommodation to match renters’ styles, wants and needs whilst delivering a consistent approach for BTR operators.  Greystar will show best practice in delivering customer service, and Homeviews those services and products that customers value most and IPRM on the role of qualifications delivering excellence in customer service

The Expo stage will feature sessions looking at data in achieving Net Zero and ESG Goals  with BRE, rental market data with Rightmove, increasing NOI with RealPage and Whole of Life costing with Yardi,

Presenters will include Dr Shamir Ghumra (Head of Building Performance Services, BRE), Hannah Marsh (Co-founder, HomeViews), Todd Marler (Senior Director Of Operations – Greystar), Hamish Neale (Director of Sales – Smart Building Suite – RealPage) and Tim Bannister (Director of Data Services, Rightmove), Jim Eaton-Terry CTO, Quintain, Iain Murray, Senior Director BTR Consultancy Cortland Consult and Merilee Karr, CEO Trusted Stays.

The event will also feature the live creation of a unique plaster wall from artist Charles Snell of Aster Munro, highlighting how this collaborative project activity can increase community engagement in BTR schemes while a drinks reception will provide a further networking session at the end of the day. The reception will also serve as an opportunity to say farewell and raise a glass to outgoing CEO Dave Butler, who retires at the end of April after overseeing significant growth during his time at UKAA’s helm.
